I’ve read just about as much bilge from every do-gooder on the planet regarding the decision of pop star Madonna to adopt another child from Malawi as I can stomach for one lifetime. According to them she should go and adopt a child at home or simply not do anything at all if I’m getting the gist of it.

What a load of absolute crap!

If Chifundo “Mercy” James (the little girl concerned) is blessed with having this woman as her mother then she would be, in my humble opinion, the luckiest orphan in Malawi. Instead of a life of abject poverty she could look forward to the best home, schools and lifestyle that money can buy. No prizes for guessing what Mercy would choose given the option.

Would these geniuses rather have her included as just another statistic in one of Africa’s tragedies?

Personally I don’t give a damn whether Madonna is not strictly complying with the adoption laws of Malawi, is getting special treatment because of who she is or the fact that she could be adopting half of New York. The fact of the matter is that those children from Africa and Asia who are lucky enough to be adopted by celebrity parents are being given a chance that very few of us could ever dream of let alone actually experience. Accordingly let the do-gooders rather focus on the millions who are not as fortunate as Mercy James and spare us this crap.

If Madonna decides that because of all the garbage that is flowing from the media and welfare organisations she is not adopting any children will these same geniuses look after Mercy James or even give a fig? Hell no, they’ll just poke their noses into the next celebrity issue and forget about a 4-year-old from Malawi whose only value to them is the publicity they get for putting in their ten cents worth.

The fact that this one child has the good fortune to be adopted by Madonna will not affect anyone else except her. Anyone who would therefore deprive her this based upon some cause or philosophy which won’t make one iota of difference to Malawi, the planet or anyone except Mercy James should be obliged to look after her in accordance with the style which she would have become accustomed to but for their interference.

Then we’ll see how many spoilers are still around.
