Tertius. This is the most intriguing blog I’ve read in a long time,. Written with wry humour and a light handed touch. Its been read by 1750 clotish rugger blog fans, who probably expected the usual gungho opinionated slush from the same old sports blog writers. Only five so far have found the words to respond

Mundundu, please! Don’t judge all South Africans by my example. I tried to convey the idea that I was not the typical SA rugby player - I’m sure most of them would have had no problem with the snow.

Pieter, thanks for taking the time to give some constructive (!) criticism.

If anyone is interested, we won the game (which was against some bouncer-looking types with goatees and tattoos) quite easily.

i can’t believe that you’ve submitted these column inches over playing rugby in the snow. the north american rugby season at the university level invariably either has snow, or temperatures cold enough to snow, involved.

you saffas are so fragile. with the exception of MLS [major league soccer], every outside sport in the united states has a chance of dealing with snow. [when there was still baseball in montreal, they worried about snow as late as mid-may, but about half of the baseball markets routinely have snow as late as mid-april.]

(a major reason i live in this country is to get away from the snow. i’m somewhat upset that i will be leaving while there will still be snow on the ground in the americas. bah.)
