The big difference between Africa and Asia is that African governments through IMF debt, bought into the whole 'free trade', privatisation and deregulation mantra, and Asian governments just did what was in their own country's interests, not in the interests of western corporations and capital.

The myth that Asia developed through 'free trade' is the biggest one, features prominently among the MDC, and even happens in the ANC.

Asian economies developed by aggressively protecting their domestic economies from foreign competition, let alone foreign ownership.

My worry is that Asia having run out of land to produce food are 'invading africa' under the guise of new trade agreements. The african continent is under populated in comaprison.
