Lux Interior, the singer of seminal psychobilly act the Cramps, died on last night. He survived a few death rumours in his time, but this one has turned out to be true. He was 62.

It is a strange feeling when one is faced with the reality of how old “the originals” have become. It’s an easy thing to forget when listening to the albums that they produced, songs that, while not necessarily “timeless”, get a whole new generation as excited today as they did back when they first came out.


I recall owning a second-hand Honda Civic once with a “lux interior”. Who’s ever heard of “The Cramps” other than sufferers of dyspepsia?
I’d always hoped to see them live at some point. What a shame.
A sad day, especially with Ron Asheton from the Stooges also dying recently.
They were a cool band.
