That's quite amusing, Richard, but perhaps you should read up a bit on a universally accepted definition of the term to understand the relevance to any IEC think-tanks discussions. I recommend Wikipedia:

"E-democracy, a portmanteau of the words "electronic" and "democracy," comprises the use of electronic communications technologies such as the Internet in enhancing democratic processes within a democratic republic or representative democracy. It is a political development still in its infancy, as well as the subject of much debate and activity within government, civic-oriented groups and societies around the world.
The term is both descriptive and prescriptive. Typically, the kinds of enhancements sought by proponents of e-democracy are framed in terms of making processes more accessible; making citizen participation in public policy decision-making more expansive and direct so as to enable broader influence in policy outcomes as more individuals involved could yield smarter policies..."

An e-democracy could only be followed by an e-rebellion, e-chaos and e-looting.

If we keep putting an 'e' in front of normal real life activities, we may very soon find we have an e-generation of e-people who refuse to get out of their e-beds.

Besides a veiled hint in the title, it's a pity that you completely failed to clue your audience in on the (eventual) inevitability of e-democracy.

It is extensively and successfully used in Estonia, for example, for everything but general elections... when people must physically present themselves at a voting station.

I think there needs to be a Bloggers code of Ethics that bloggers can voluntarily subscribe to first before we consider inviting bloggers to work alongside journalists.

I only recently discovered that there are a lot of South African bloggers who think that embellishing (i.e. lying) is acceptable.

I recently corresponded with one of your own team members who informed me that he felt it wasn't particularly important for him to be totally accurate on his own personal blog. If you want to know who I am referring to, I will divulge his identity in private to you.

I doubt that that is an opinion you share, Mr Buckland?

Personally, I feel that any blogger who intentionally misleads his audience needs to be held up to ridicule.

Careful with your proposal, we may end up having election results suppressed for a year to be released. I believe you familiar with recent words or terms used to describe such circumstance(s): "Massaging", "rigging", "cooking", "stealing"...they've been used in another banana republic with no currency & ruled by a mad mastarched dictator.
