Thank you once again Marius for yet another masterpice.In as much as I agree that the Youth are yet to run themselves, It is important that we make sure that we take care of the head, for cohesion purposes. The youth progress is stalled because the Motherbody is not providing leadership. The withdrawal of the constitution, lack of programmes, lack of visibility, lack of administative and logistical support are but just some of the issues concerning us.

COPE was formed amidst great media hype. At last, the proclaimed, we have a viable alternative black party to the ruling ANC. A year later, the chickens have certainly come home to roost. The party has nothing to show of its much acclaimed membership. Sam Shilowa is calling for the formation of branches. Common Sam, everybody knows that for branches to be formed you must have actual members, not imaginary members, as was the case before the national general elections held last year. The fact is that COPE is being led by self-appointed leaders who wants to mirror its structures along those of the party they were once part of. The Youth Movement is correct in calling for a national congress where legitimate leaders are chosen.

Marius, I hear you. We also have to remembers that apart from running COPE motherbody, COPE YM still has to run itself.

Meaning, come with its own constitution, its own policies and prepare for its own conference.

I accept the wake up call that COPE YM has given us, however, an obsession with removing the motherbody leadership will do us more harm than good.
