Getting to grips with a thick-headed reality

As the election draws near I am reminded of a throw-away scene in a frivolous little movie called Confetti, a mockumentary about a wedding competition. You may have seen the movie (it’s re-running on DStv at the moment).

It’s a pathetic little bedroom scene where that most desperate-to-win tennis player turns to his paranoid partner and says: “Why can’t you get it into your thick head just how much I respect you.”

Seems to me South Africans need to get it into their collective thick head too that they have entered an altered reality and need to come to grips with the genius of the Zumas, Malemas, Mpshes, Hlophes etc of our world who have been able to magically dismantle our common-sense reality and rebuild it on-the-fly to reflect a new worldview, perhaps even a new world order.

So let’s just get into our thick heads:

How much JZ really respects the Constitution, women and the rule of law.
How much JZ is completely innocent of all those charges relating to the Shaik affair.
How much of a lesser mortal the Dalai Lama is when compared to Trevor or Pallo.
How much of a true friend China is to South Africa.
How much SA’s unemployment rate is declining when the rest of the world’s is rising.
How much Mpshe applies his mind.
How much Hlophe really is a great judicial figure baited by racists on the bench.
How much Julius is the rightful heir to the Youth League of Mandela and Sisulu.
How much Tutu is just a cranky old priest with a chip on his shoulder
How much nonsense it is to infer anything fishy in the 223 cellphone calls that Selebi made to Agliotti.

Feel free to make your own thick-headed contributions to this list …

How much JZ was the victim of a political conspiracy and this is proof that he is innocent.

How much better (or not) it would have been under a Mbeki 3rd term?

My thich-headed contribution to your list is “that you are of course free to leave the country with immediate effect”

Why don’t you DA supporters spend more of your valuable time at looking at your party’s racism and failures? Why don’t you tell us why the majority of black people will never vote an arch racist like Zille and her bunch of hypocrits? Why don’t you tell us rather whether you support Zille’s farcical claim that her supporters…whites are paying the most tax in this country? Why don’t you tell us why you whites were so disappointed when charges against our President were dropped?

You should try and persuade Madam Zille that she must get to grips with a thich-headed reality that after April 22, she will adress Jacob Zuma as Mr President, whether she likes it or not.

Why don’t you supply the proof that Helen is a racist?

If whites are racist – why did they vote in Obama?

If blacks are not racist, why did Nelson Mandela, when ANCYL president, insist that whites and Indians or coloureds could not be members of the ANC?

another thick headed reality is that people like Bongo make stupid ad hominem attacks on people to defend the indefensible. Bongo if you keep saying something long and often enough as you do in calling all DA supporters/members racist (choose your own insult for black DA people) you may with no actual evidence begin to believe yourself. But then that is perhaps your thick headed reality – you racist. To round off with another thick headed reality; we could yet have a president in court due to the absurd NPA decision being rectified.after June.

Why did whites vote for Obama, because they are American and not South African; because they so desparately wanted any person with common sense to rescue they from the nutcases in the Republican Party; because they know that Obama was not a break from the status quo only a different version and they have had about forty years to work through their racist attitudes; something sadly SA whites still refuse to do.
